Designing architectural and digital works, 1024 orchestrates partitions of sound and light in space through computer codes.
1024 operates at the crossroads of art and architecture, combining spatial practices, digital technologies, and visual creation. Merging disciplines and media, the studio considers architecture and inhabited spaces as evolving structures. Audiovisual installations then become perennial devices, architecture dismantles as temporary structures, scenography emerges as a work of art, and multimedia performances turn into real-time immersive experiences. From one-night projects to permanent installations, 1024 architecture creates original works that resonate within their environment.
- 1024 equals 2 to the power of 10.

After meeting at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Strasbourg, Pier Schneider and François Wunschel founded 1024 Architecture in 2007. In 2014, they were joined by Nico Merlin, an architect, and composer who integrated the agency as an architect, musician, and video maker. Since then, the studio has focused on creating and producing audiovisual installations, fusing architecture and the visual arts in an internationally recognized body of work. From small-scale objects intended for indoor exhibitions to monumental installations in the public space, what distinguishes 1024 works is their unique approach to space through the tools of geometry, light, sound, and movement.
